Beyond his innovations, Josh is an internationally-recognised tabla player, having been selected to perform on stages that include The Dublin Castle (a legendary venue central to the British punk and indie music scenes, credited with launching the careers of Madness, Blur and Amy Winehouse), Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan UK (largest Centre for Indian arts in the UK) and the historic residence of Sir Ratanji Tata in London.

He believes that the tabla can be played as a sound in all sorts of music, from heavy metal to rap. Bhangra to Indian classical.

After being self-taught in Indian classical music, he caught the attention of the prolific British musician Kuljit Bhamra MBE (later to become his guru in tabla), at the age of 12 when Bhamra ji spotted his talent during a visit to his elementary school, and encouraged him to perform in all kinds of genres. Often times, Kuljit would invite Josh to jam on his 300 tablas at his recording studio!

Josh continues to perform in venues, and aspires to perform in NABC 2025 alongside top musicians like Shreya Goshal and Rupam Islam, in front of an expected audience of 10,000+ people.

Josh is currently working on his debut fusion track for the Villars Music Academy, where he is an ecopreneurship fellow of the Villars Institute, to create a first-of-its-kind tabla composition called "Symphony of Systems" for their upcoming summer 2025 music academy, aiming to explore and embody the interconnectedness of ecological and social systems through music. Inspired by his experiences of the Villar's ecopreneurship program and Queen's Bohemian Rhapsody, his groundbreaking composition with multiple distinct sections will blend traditional tabla rhythms with environmental sounds and modern electronic elements, reflecting the institute’s commitment to ecopreneurship and sustainability.

praise for josh

"I have known Josh for 7 years, initially as a student and now as a passionate musician. I mentored him in the art of tabla playing (Indian drumming). He showed exceptional talent, dedication and a deep understanding of the instrument from a young age. He then went on to earn a First Class Diploma with Distinction in Tabla from the Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (UK’s foremost Indian music conservatoire), showcasing his technical proficiency and commitment to the craft. Josh also studied my Read & Play Tabla tuition course with its revolutionary Indian Drum Notation system, and completed the GCSE Music practical component on the tabla with an 8 (A*) - the first student in the country to achieve this."
